Rock House

The Grotto resurrect in downtown Shenzhen                                   
 
Abstract
 
Grotto is an artificial structure or excavation in a garden make to resemble a cave. It is always elaborately artificial, absurdly fake. Against this backdrop of theatricality, forbidden pleasure can occur: hidden and discover, stolen and intimate. The grotto found its heyday in 18th century England gardens, providing a dark and erotic narrative to the landscape garden’s palette. This proposal for the Rock House takes advantages of the grotto’s essential feature: there is something to discover within, and that something is often amazing.

Story
 
Once upon time, there was a huge meteorite crash into the earth. Thousands year ago, this stone, eroded and become an eye-catching landmark—Grotto, was located in downtown Shenzhen.. The Rock itself looks dark, heavy and mediocre as the first impression but it hides many secrets and waits for someone to explore. Approaching the Rock House is an amazing sequence and visual experience. You can only see the “bulky” object on the street. Also the reflective image on the shallow pool is another visual impact or visual luxury. 

Inside the court, the light and shadow is on the show. Not only had that but the double-layer space experience happened in-between the house. The master bedroom is the crystal embedded in the stone .The extrusion space is the gorgeous alcove study room, which created the extraordinary atmosphere in second floor.

The facade of the Rock House is another scenario. It’s a paradox –smooth and rough, transparent and opaque. Orientation is the key to understand the rock. Suddenly, we found the Rock House is not a generic “thing” on the earth, but an object comes from the future.
